Identity Theft and Cybercrime Toolkit

In today’s episode of Matt’s Minutes, we are sharing some valuable tips and tricks to protect yourself and your loved ones from identity theft and cybercrime. Identity theft and cybercrime have become increasingly prevalent in our digital age, making it crucial to stay informed and proactive in safeguarding our personal information. If you remember, a few years ago we hosted a webinar with former FBI agent Jeff Lanza. He shared a wealth of knowledge with us, below is his 5-page guide. The guide offers practical advice on creating strong passwords, recognizing phishing attempts, and securing your devices, empowering you to take control of your online security. Additionally, we encourage you to share these tips with your friends and family, as raising awareness is key to combating these threats together.

Story time with Uncle Matt- A Tale of 5 Investors

In this episode of Matt’s Minutes, Matt shares a captivating story about five investors who each received a cash gift from their fairy godmother to invest. While some made thoughtful, strategic decisions that grew their wealth, others made choices that didn’t have the same positive outcomes. Tune in to the video above to explore the different paths these investors took and the lessons they learned along the way.

Are you ready if tragedy strikes?

In today’s episode of Matt’s Minutes, I reflect on the heartbreaking fires on the island of Maui, which have caused immense loss of life, homes, and families. This tragedy highlights the critical importance of being prepared for unexpected events. Are you prepared for an emergency? If you’re unsure, we can help guide you in creating a solid plan. Watch the full video above, and feel free to reach out if you need assistance with your preparedness.

Beware Of Phone Scams

In today’s video, we’re sharing some important warning signs and best practices to help you avoid falling victim to phone scams and fraud. Here are some tips to keep in mind:

  • Don’t answer calls from numbers you don’t recognize, even if they appear local (spammers use spoofing to trick you).
  • If you do answer but feel suspicious or pressured, hang up immediately.
  • Be wary of anyone claiming to be a health care representative, government official, or medical discount plan.
  • Question callers claiming to be from trusted retailers, financial institutions, service providers, or even law enforcement—legitimate callers will give you a name and a callback number.
  • If they ask for personal information or payment, it’s almost certainly a scam.

If you’re unsure, hang up and contact the provider directly using the customer service number on your card or the provider’s official website.
